Tim & Sandy Hewitt Update 7/22/2025
July 22, 2025
Greetings from Michigan!
It’s difficult to believe that we are halfway through summer! It’s equally difficult to believe that we have neglected to officially share our activities, blessings and prayer requests with you all for several months. We apologize for that delay but hope to catch up with this (hopefully not too long) missive!!! 😊
Many of you will recall that we spent 3 weeks in southern Utah in January, helping a church while giving their pastor and his wife a break. Although challenging, it was a wonderful experience, making new friends, challenging them (and us) with God’s Word and being reminded of the sweetness of the “Family of God” wherever we go!
For the past several months, we have been working with a small church only 35 minutes from our home who are determining how they want their church to proceed. Tim is filling in once a month while they pursue their options. They have various men speaking the other 3 weeks. We’ve spent time with their lone Deacon and his wife and shared Sunday Dinner with them, hopefully encouraging them during this difficult decision-making time.
In June, we attended a Retreat organized by BEM Board Members, who are also a small church pastor and his wife. There were 15 people in attendance, which allowed for unusually personal and sweet interaction. Our group included Small Church Pastors and their wives as well as other retired men and most of their spouses who are offering ministries similar to BEM. It was such a great opportunity to “pick people’s brains” as well as to rejoice together regarding God’s amazing provisions. The food was exceptional and the Retreat Center, located in northern Indiana, was amazing…so peaceful and refreshing!
Although “retired,” it certainly hasn’t felt that way! We continue to be very active in our home church as well. We’re thankful for our new Pastor and are working hard to keep up with him! Although our church would qualify as a “small church” (130 people on average), there is sure a lot going on!!
We just finished our annual Vacation Bible School. While I (Sandy) had signed up to just show up to help with crafts, due to last minute changes, I somehow ended up as the lead person for that! Welcome to the Small Church Culture!! While a bit stressful, it was great fun, watching the children engage with both other kids and adults and enjoying the enthusiasm of our Pastor, who was the leader and Bible teacher for the week. Our Theme was “What A Mess, VBS!” Sin causes a mess in our lives, but Jesus can set it right! And, YES, all of the crafts made a real mess!!! 😊
Tim continues in the role of Deacon, Team Teacher for an adult Sunday School class and as co-chairman of our Mission’s Committee. I help co-chair the Mission’s Committee as well as visitor hospitality and mentoring a gal. This all adds up to lots of meetings and various duties.
Our family happenings have been a bit over the top these past few months! We had 5 grandchildren graduate, 2 from college and 3 from high school. We were fortunate to be able to attend 4 of the graduations and parties in person, although in different states, (Ohio and Indiana). While not personally present for our Thailand grandson’s graduation, due to the school’s successful streaming, we were able to view the entire event! Because of the 11-hour time difference, we were up early, with our U.S. viewing time beginning at 8:00 AM!!
Our regularly scheduled annual family events, including Memorial Day Weekend and Cousin Camp were also special times of fun, silliness and laughter, special birthday celebrations, planning for the future and acknowledging God’s rich blessings.
In closing, we would ask for your prayers as we begin planning for our two Small Church Conferences to be held in Nephi, Utah and Kokomo, Indiana, scheduled for April and November of 2026. Although that time sounds so far away, 10 months go by very quickly and there is much that must be completed in advance for these conferences to go well and be effective. Ahhh…more meetings!!!
We would also appreciate your prayers for Tim & I for good health and energy as well as for additional opportunities to serve through BEM. Please pray too, for our family, our son and his family as they adjust to life back in the United States and our 4 young adult grandchildren as they pursue God’s plan for their lives in Ohio, Michigan and around the world. We would also covet your prayers for our other 11 grandchildren (12-18), for God’s direction, protection and their continued spiritual well-being.
Thank You for praying and caring. We always look forward to those times, often too rare, when we can share hugs and your life stories in person. Until then…
Blessings,
Tim & Sandy Hewitt

P.S. THANK YOU to Milan Baptist Church and those individuals who have given financially to keep us on the road. We truly appreciate your generosity!
