Rogers Update 1/8/2016

Dear Praying Friends,
I deal with human relationships all the time. (The truth is most of us do that whether we think about it or not.) I do find relationships interesting in many ways. Take the New Year for instance. All over the world people celebrate the upcoming untarnished year (maybe a different date) with its many opportunities to get it right this time. Second chances offer hope and possibly forgiveness for past failures. If nothing else, simply a time to put the past behind them and start with a clean slate. But the slate isn’t clean and there is no forgiveness without Christ. Yet, praise God, there is Christ. Christ has the right to bring forgiveness to a sinful people because He satisfied on the cross God’s holy anger toward sin. God is satisfied completely with what Christ endured as a substitute for us. Without Christ there is no forgiveness, but when a person makes the important decision to trust Christ to take him to God, Christ promises He will take that person safely into the presence of God. That person will be forgiven (because of what Christ did) and brought into the family of God. This is new life given by God. Talk about a relationship!! And here is where it becomes incredible in my mind and wonderful at the same time. God knew what He was getting when He accepted us into His family, and He still wanted us anyway!
So what is happening to the Rogers in the “New Year”? It seems Utah is still very much in our DNA. I spent some very enjoyable time this last fall in Utah, serving in several churches. As always, it felt like coming home. The whole ministry trip was over 5000 driving miles taking me to other locations beside Utah. I was involved in relationships and churches in Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas as well. Now with the New Year I am headed back to Utah this month to be in several churches. The whole trip will be about eight weeks (missing Beabea already, and I haven’t even left yet!). One of the churches I will be ministering in is the church I started in Spanish Fork, Utah. I will be joining the pastor for a few weeks in ministry. It will be like old times to hang around Utah Valley area.
The New Year will also bring ministry in several areas which we will share later. Pray on our behalf that as I set up details and dates, I will have God’s wisdom and guidance! Thanks in advance for praying for safety in travel, Beabea at home, and our health. (I seem to be doing better!)
