While working as an Electrical Engineer and actively serving in his local church in Indianapolis, Indiana for many years, Tim received the call from God to full time vocational ministry at the age of 34. He graduated from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana in 1995. Shortly thereafter Tim accepted the position of Senior Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, a small Independent Baptist Church in Elkhart Indiana. He served at Calvary for 12 years, three of those years having been bi-vocational. Through firsthand experience, the Hewitt’s know both the challenges and rewards of working ‘solo’ in the ministry of the small local church.

In 2007, God transitioned Tim out of the ministry at Calvary, ultimately giving he and his wife the desire to reach out to Pastors in ministries similar to where they had served in order to offer counsel, encouragement and rest, both to Pastors and congregations as they labor in the Gospel together. With that goal in mind, Barnabas Enrichment Ministries was formed.

In February of 2011, through a BEM interim commitment, God led Tim back into a full time pastorate at New Hope Baptist Church in Gas City, IN.   After nearly seven years of service at New Hope, the Hewitt’s left full-time church ministry in the fall of 2017 to serve once again as Missionaries with BEM.

Sandy graduated from Indiana State University in 1974, with a B.S. in Social Work. Having worked a short time for the Juvenile Court system in Indianapolis, IN, she took 14 years off to be a stay-at-home mom. Active in church organization during those years, she spearheaded many successful programs/ministries involving ladies, children and missionary assistance.

Re-entering the workforce as a Speech & Language Paraprofessional, she retired from their local public school system after seventeen years.  Sandy believes that God called both she and her husband Tim to full-time ministry. She views her role as one of support and encouragement as well as teaching and mentoring. Having an acknowledged gift for organization and hospitality, as well as being trained in Biblical counseling, she is delighted to be an integral part of the Barnabas Enrichment Ministries and eagerly looks forward to what God will accomplish through this ministry.  Tim serves as Executive Director of BEM and as a Board member.   Sandy serves as Secretary on the Board of BEM.
