Rogers Update 3/31/2015
March 31, 2015

Dear Friends,

January, February, and March have been months filled with many opportunities to be involved in the lives of people and help them focus on Christ and the character of who God is.  What a privilege God gives us.  What is also very special is as we help others in their journey with God, they are part of our own spiritual growth.  God has given His people so much wisdom through their experiences and their searching of the scriptures.  We all get to benefit from what God is doing in all of our lives.  From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank all of you who have been such an encouragement in our lives as we have traveled among you!

From early January I was in Valley Falls, Kansas for four Sundays and ministering to the Calvary Baptist’s people.  They are precious believers that were always finding ways to be a support to me in my serving of them.  (The temperature in Kansas ranged from about 10 degrees Fahrenheit to low 60’s.)  Beabea was not able to be with me due to our support level so she stayed home and worked at her caregiver job/ministry.

The first part of February, Beabea and I flew to Alaska to speak in a Bible conference at McGrath Road Baptist Church in Fairbanks.  I spoke seven times and Beabea taught the children while I was speaking.  We enjoyed our time together visiting with dear friends and meeting new ones.  On the last Sunday we were there, the Moose family visited in the church parking lot.  Mama Mouse and her two children were going for a morning walk, but they decided not to visit the services inside the building.  (Oh, by the way, when we arrived in Fairbanks, the temperature was 40 below zero.)

The latter part of February I traveled to Florida speaking in several churches.  Beabea stayed behind to continue her responsibilities as a caregiver to elderly in Indiana.  When I first arrived I was involved in an exciting mission conference at New Hope Baptist Church in Parrish.  I had the opportunity to meet new friends as well as seeing others that have prayed for us for years.  I do remember seeing lizards running about the church’s parking lot.  They were not as large as the moose.  I also had the chance to return to Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring, Florida.  We know many people at Maranatha, and it is always a joy to spend time with them.  Finally, I spoke at Shepherd Road Baptist in Mulberry, Florida.  Shepherd Road is our commissioning church, and it was special to get to spend time with the pastor and his family as well as interacting with some friends from a long time back.  (When I left Florida, it was 80 degrees.)

Since arriving back in Indiana in March, I have been spending long hours on the computer seeking to be caught up on correspondence and doing projects around the house that were unattended to while I was gone.  Needless to say all of this has kept me very active each day.  The next couple of months, I will be serving churches in Indiana.  This summer I will be in Wisconsin, and this fall in Arizona and Utah.  Please continue to pray for me as I travel and for Beabea as she will probably not be with me on these trips.

Last fall, our daughter, Christy, and her three children moved in with us while her husband took a better paying job in North Dakota.  Housing was difficult to find and they had to stay longer with us then they planned.  This, of course, was difficult because we had to spend time with our grandchildren!!!!

Our son, Jeremiah, and his wife live near us so we had times when all the grandkids were together in our house.  Lots of adventure and excitement!  For Christy and her husband, Michael, it seems like they were never going to be able to get back together, but to their credit, they kept trusting the Lord and He surprised them with His answer!  Since they were first married, they have always wanted to live in Colorado.  The Lord started putting those pieces together and Michael was just recently transferred to Colorado.  Shortly thereafter housing opened up and Christy and her children were able to move to Colorado a few weeks back.  We were able to get an inexpensive flight for Beabea (Award Miles) and she has flown out for a couple of weeks to help Christy get her new home set up.  As I type this, she is the one traveling and I am the one at home!  A bit of a switch, but I am so happy for her.  She is getting one last fling with the grandkids!!

Please be in prayer for me as I have some medical tests coming up in April.  I have had several symptoms including increase pain in my pancreas.  So pray for me on April 7 and 17th (Beabea will be back for the second one.)  We will find out the results in early May.

Beabea and I want to thank you for your prayers and support through the years.  It is great to have you on our team!

Your friend and fellow laborer,

John
