Rogers Update 1/28/2014
January 30, 2014

Dear Friends,

While the Midwest and east coast is suffering untold winter damage, I am in the Rocky Mountains of Utah at 4500 feet enjoying temperatures in the 40s (F).  Unfortunately Beabea is not with me during this trip and is right in the middle of the storms in Indiana!  So don’t forget to pray for her!

The first part of January I spent at Berean Bible Studies of Orem while missionaries, Daniel and Aja Long and son, Dawson, spoke in some churches on the east coast.  It was great to see them before they left on the trip and after.  I believe the ministry went well while they were gone, and I had a great time with those who attend this new church plant.

The second part of January, I am spending at Santaquin Baptist Church in Santaquin, Utah.  Mike and Neva Bardon are the missionaries who serve here.  They are spending time out of state speaking as well as getting away for awhile.  I am enjoying getting to know the people of the church, and I find myself quite busy in ministry.  I am preaching and teaching four times a week along with other responsibilities including a weekly children’s program.  It also has been a pleasure to meet individually with various ones in the church.

I do have a very important prayer request over the next couple of days.  When I first arrived in Santaquin, Mike Bardon took me to a retirement center where I met with a very special elderly lady.  We enjoyed our visit together.  She is a Bible believing Christian.  The rest of her family is mainly LDS (Mormon).  I planned to see her at least once a week while here to encourage her.  When I returned the next week to visit, her family was there; and within a day, she had entered Heaven.  Mike Bardon was scheduled to do the funeral, but he was out of state and not able to return in time.  The family is graciously allowing me to officiate the funeral and to be the speaker.  Since her passing into eternity, I have been spending considerable time seeking to build relationships with the family.  The Lord has certainly gone before me in this.  The funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday morning, January 29th, in Payson Utah.  There will be a viewing tonight and tomorrow before the funeral.  Please be in prayer for me as I lead the service and speak from the Bible.  Also pray for the Bible believing Christians in the local area who have stepped up to help with music, singing, and a special.  My desire is that the family will be comforted and challenged by her life and the biblical truth of her salvation.  She has prayed for a long time for her funeral that her loved ones will hear the gospel message and respond.  Will you pray also as she has prayed?  I find great comfort in the fact that many of those who read this are true prayer warriors.  I will be in the midst of real spiritual battle.  I cherish your prayers!

I will be leaving for home on Monday, February 3rd, and I will be driving so I also appreciate your prayers in this ever changing weather!  I will only be home a few days before I fly to Alaska.  Serving God is never boring!

Amazed at the opportunities that God gives! (I shouldn’t be amazed because God is God, but sometimes I can’t help it!!)
